Davits, Titanium & Glass
Davits
The davits are specially made from carbon-fibre. The beam is designed to lift directly over the lifting points in the tender to prevent longitudinal stresses being placed on the davit arms, which are long so as to touch each side of the tender’s Hyperlon tubes for stability and to keep the tender level. A remote control lifts and lowers the tender, and LED lights on the underside of the davits make night attachment easier. Secondary connection points on the underside of the davit arms secure the tender when the boat is making passage. The height of the davits ensures the bottom of the tender’s hull is situated above the bridge deck to prevent interference from tunnel waves.
Titanium Parts
Titanium is stronger, lighter, far less prone to rust than stainless steel and needs zero polishing and upkeep. To minimise maintenance, we have chosen to make the guard-rail stanchions, pull pit, staircase railing, fly-bridge railing and some of the deck gear (including removable pad-eyes, sheave pins, stops and mounts) out of titanium.
Glass
We have placed glass instead of Plexiglass in the hull side and saloon windows. The benefits of glass are its clarity, it doesn’t degrade from UV radiation and it is more scratch resistant.
