Mooring, Remote Mooring & Retractable Cleats
Mooring
Extensive consideration has gone into accommodating every type of mooring method around the world. The Air Yacht 80 provides for easy stern-to, side-on and bow mooring at port as well as port-to-raft mooring, slim-line mooring and buoy mooring.
Four Harken retractable CLR mooring winches or capstans are positioned two forward and two aft. The forward capstans can double up for both the A2 trim point and for Mediterranean-style mooring. The two aft capstans are designed for Med-style mooring.
Remote Mooring
At the helm on a catamaran, mooring can be challenging, especially when having to contend with the hull windage, swell and cramped spaces. To accommodate this and to allow the boat to be extremely manoeuvrable, we have integrated the two shaft-drive motors with a bow thruster, all of which come together and can be operated by a joystick on a portable handheld remote control. This allows the skipper to control simultaneously the speed, engines and direction from anywhere on the boat. When not in use, the remote control sits in a cradle that recharges, and control is passed back to the main helm.
The remote control also is able to raise and lower the anchor and let out more chain as necessary, a must in Med-style mooring.
Retractable Cleats
Five 500mm/400mm retractable cleats are in well-thought-out positions along each side of the hull in the toe rails and at the bow, and another four are positioned aft for Med mooring. Retractable cleats are provided to allow the tender to tie up with ease when it’s not on the davits.
